LATO AI founders Dan Zabokrytskyi and Michael Reynolds joined host Eric Dillman on the Pro Series podcast for episode 219, a conversation about what changes when a company stops buying AI tools off the shelf and starts building them around its own operation.

LATO means broad and wide, in Latin and in Spanish, and the founders use the word to describe the method. Before any tool is chosen, the team looks at how the business actually runs: where the admin work piles up, which systems already hold the data, and what the people doing the work spend their day on. The AI comes after that, not before.

They also walk through the origin of the company. The engineering came out of DocuEase, Dan's earlier work on document automation. Mike was a client first, impressed by the speed and the flexibility of what the team built for him, and the two joined forces. Today LATO AI is more than 80 engineers, designers and project managers.

The rest of the episode covers workflow automation, business efficiency and where custom technology is heading.
